• ModMic Uni / Kimura > PS4 / PS5 Installation

  There are two general ways to connect your ModMic Uni / Kimura to a PS4 / PS5:

  Connected to the controller with a Y adapter, aka a TRRS/CTIA (tip-ring-ring-sleeve) adapter - the type that lets you plug/combine a mic and headphones into a single 3.5/2.5mm jack. The plug of the adapter should look like the bottom image in the photo below. Make sure the Y adapter has ports labeled specifically for your headphones and your mic.

   

  

   

  The connection will be ModMic/Kimura > Y Adapter > PS4/5 controller.

  Connected to an open USB port via a USB Sound Card. The connection will be ModMic > USB Sound Card > USB port on the PS4/5. Remember, there are two (2) 10-Gbps USB ports located on the back of the PS5, as well. NOTE: we are aware of reports of the USB ports in the back of the PS5 overheating and melting.   You might have to go into the Audio settings for your console to make sure your ModMic/Kimura is being read by it. Consult your console's instruction manual for more information.

• Unwanted white noise/background noise/low volume

  For ModMic Uni / Kimura users: Realtek onboard does not always do well with high-end recording equipment. The electromagnetic interference from your computer's internal parts can affect your mic, too.

  Most audio settings have a mic boost and an adjustable mic gain. For Windows, this is found by going to Sound -> Recording Devices, and selecting the properties of your microphone.

  1. For mics in uni-directional mode (noise cancelling): ensure that the Mic icon on the tip of the boom (just before the pop filter) is facing your mouth.
  2. Ensure that Automatic Gain Control (AGC) or similar automated sound levels are turned on.
  3. Bend the mic closer to your mouth, but be sure to avoid your breath stream.
  4. Adjust the mic gain up until your voice is clear. You can listen to your own mic in the “Listen” tab in the properties of your mic mentioned above. You can also add boost, but note that higher gain and higher boost may also increase “white noise” in the background. We do not recommend more than +10db of boost.
  5. Follow our tutorial for free software based real-time noise reduction and mic boost.
  6. A USB adapter will provide additional power to your mic and enhance the gain and clarity. Certain motherboards may not perform well without a USB adapter or other amp source. This solves the volume problem in nearly all cases.

  See the first link below for a more detailed explanation. While the clip shows the ModMic 4.0 with a USB sound card, it will apply to the Kimura since both devices use 3.5mm jacks.

  Before committing to purchasing a USB adapter, see if a friend can let you borrow one.

• Need a new pop filter or Kimura eartip?

  While we don't have stock of pop filters, we suggest these generic ones, located below.

  Availability will vary by region. Alternatively, the following dimensions will also work for any replacement pop filter you may find:

  Size: 30×22mm (1.18 x 0.87 inches); Inner Diameter: 9.652 mm (0.38 inches)

   

  For replacement Kimura eartips, you're looking for anything with an outer diameter of 5mm, or anything with a 5mm nozzle. Either will work with the Kimura Solo or Duo. Currently, we do not have any extra stock available.

• Shipping times / policy

  Shipping time ETA:

  • 2 Day Shipping (~2 Business days, of course!)
  • US, Canada, EU, and UK Standard Shipping (3-5 Business days, average)
  • Standard International Shipping (6-20 Business days, depending on destination)
  • Expedited International Shipping (3-5 Business days, average)

  Carriers vary based on location, and include but are not limited to USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. If you need a specific carrier, please email us BEFORE PLACING YOUR ORDER. Include information on a required carrier and issues you / your country have had in the past.

  Any order placed after 5pm PST Monday through Friday will not process until the next Business day.

  For international shipments - once a shipment clears Customs, it can sit in customs for up to 6 weeks until they are required to notify you. Definitely check your local post office / customs office, and see if it is being held there; VAT fees may also apply (see our Shipping: fees and taxes article). With COVID-19, there is a good chance that your local courier may require you to pick up your shipment instead of them delivering to your address. This varies by region.

  We STRONGLY urge you to check our Where to Buy page and - whenever possible - shop locally to avoid long delivery times. We know it looks cheaper to purchase directly from us, and we appreciate your wanting to support us directly, but you may end up paying more and waiting longer than you would shopping locally. So please, support your local businesses!

  Contact us within seven (7) days of your last tracking update if an order is lost or stolen. You may be eligible to have the item replaced depending on circumstances and carrier information.  FYI, only our headphone orders have signature confirmation. 

   

• Canceling / changing orders

  Orders may ship within 3 hours of placing an order, sometimes even faster! Please e-mail us at CustomerService@AntlionAudio.com IMMEDIATELY if you need to cancel or adjust your order, including your destination address. We can not guarantee manual cancellation or order adjustments, even if you e-mail us within the 3 hour window, so please double check all shipping information before purchasing! Orders placed after 5PM Pacific may not be processed until the following business day.
